Read on; you’re in for a treat.

What Is a Peel-off Lac?

Let’s start with the fundamentals – the essence of peel-off lacquers.
A peel-off lac, as the name suggests, is a gel nail polish designed to be easily removed without any harsh chemicals or strenuous scrubbing.
MI-NY’s innovative nail solution is the quick-change artist of the nail world, offering a convenient way to switch up your nail colour without any of the fuss of traditional polish removal.

What Does the MI-NY Peel-off Lac Contain?

The peel-off lac has been primed for success from production. MI-NY’s lacquer is proudly “12 Free”, meaning it’s stripped from a dozen harmful chemicals typically found in traditional nail products.
Aside from this, it’s also free from HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate), one of the most aggravating allergens used in nail coating products.
Now that we know what the peel-off doesn’t contain, it’s time to talk about what it does:

  1. Acrylates Copolymer is a thickening agent, allowing the lac to form a firm and smooth coat on your nails.
  2. Pentaerythritol tetra (3-mercaptopropionate) is a curing agent that provides the lac with adhesiveness without any chemical solvents.
  3. Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide, a substance used in nail modelling products.
  4. 2-Isopropylthioxanthone is a chemical substance commonly used in nail polish formulations that hardens the polish after curing.
  5. Dimethicone is a silicone-based substance that acts as a drying agent and speeds up the drying process.
  6. CI 77742, also known as manganese violet, is a mineral-based colourant used to impart the violet to cosmetics and personal care products.
  7. CI 77510 or ferric ferrocyanide is a synthetic dye that imparts an intense dark blue colour to different cosmetic products.

How Does the Peel-off Lac Work?

Peel-off lacquers may seem like magic, but they’re pure science.
Here’s how they work:

  1. Application: The process begins like any other nail polish application. Mattify your nails with the buffer, degrease the nail plate and select your favourite colour from MI-NY’s medley of options. Next, apply a thin coat of colour.
  2. Curing: After applying the lac to your nails, use your UV or LED nail lamp to begin the curing process. Cure for 120 seconds in the UV lamp or 60 in the LED one.
  3. Repeat: Apply a second equally thin coat of colour on your nails and dry in a nail lamp again.
  4. Wear: Once cured, the lac forms a strong bond with your nails and can stay put for up to 14 days of wear.
  5. Removal: Lift the edge of your nail polish, fill a container with warm water and soak your nails in it. Then, start at the edge of your nail and gently peel off the polish just like a sticker, revealing healthy nails ready for a fresh application.

Does It Come Off During Chores Involving Water?

We know what you’re thinking, “Okay, this peel-off lac sounds wicked, but how on Earth does it fare during water-based chores?”
Well, the MI-NY peel-off lac seems to defy the laws of physics and stays on when you’re washing dishes, showering or scrubbing your hands. Here’s why:

  • The peel-off lac forms a strong bond with the nail’s surface, which isn’t just a surface-level attachment. This ensures the lac doesn’t lift when it touches water.
  • You need to lift the edges of your gel polish before you soak them so that the water can get underneath the lac. If you don’t do this, the lac won’t lift.
  • After the polish dries, it develops a solid barrier on your nails that doesn’t budge during water-related activities.
